About this role

Engineer - Nuclear Groton, CT, US Overview D421 Nuclear Quality Control Engineering is looking for a highly motivated Engineer. Individuals will provide support for new construction and maintenance and repair of post-delivery nuclear submarines. Principle duties include review of drawings/disclosures, specifications, and technical work documents to ensure identification of all required inspection/documentation requirements. Other duties include leading investigations of quality deficiencies, assisting functional areas in resolution of problems and the development/maintenance of shipyard work procedures to provide specific inspection direction in the areas of welding, system mechanical joint connections, piping system cleanliness and completion inspections, nuclear material control, electrical and structural inspections. Candidate will be responsible for providing technical direction and oversight on quality initiatives, development of process improvements, reduction of cumbersome work practices, and new process development associated with VIRGINIA Class, COLUMBIA Class disclosure/drawing reviews, and support of EB and Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) teaming initiatives. This includes leading investigations of quality deficiencies and assisting functional areas in resolution of problems that may occur at any Electric Boat Site, NNS or a Supplier.
