About this role
Engineer V General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS' expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide. General Atomics is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Satellite EMI/EMC Engineer to join our Space Systems group. Reporting to the Space Systems Electrical Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and managing electromagnetic interference (EMI) risks in the design, development, and testing of advanced satellite systems. This role is critical to ensuring the performance, reliability, and compliance of satellite systems with industry and government standards. Working alongside a team of expert engineers, the candidate will play a key role in supporting the development and engineering of cutting-edge satellite and space systems, advanced sensors, high-energy lasers, and other innovative technologies within GA-EMS's expanding portfolio. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead the design, analysis, and testing of satellite systems to ensure compliance with EMI/EMC requirements across all mission phases. - Develop and implement EMI/EMC control plans, including grounding, shielding, filtering, and bonding strategies. - Perform electromagnetic interference and compatibility analyses, including radiated and conducted emissions and susceptibility testing. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate EMI/EMC risks during design, integration, and testing phases. - Conduct reviews of requirements, design, and test procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, NASA-STD-4003). -
