Engineer IV General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a senior mechanical engineer within the Systems Integration Group. Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. This position is responsible for providing technical design solutions for a range of design problems from obsolescence and manufacturing production support to aircraft avionics integration layouts and cross functional engineering coordination and component assembly using CAD (Computer-aided design) engineering software. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter-organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues. Provides direction to design or technical staff and may provide direction to less experienced professional staff. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Applies technical knowledge to design, analyze, investigate, and resolve assigned engineering problems utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles. - Utilizes 3D CAD software for theoretical design solutions - Performs computer structural analysis validation. - May develop prototype mock-ups and perform empirical testing to troubleshoot aircraft integration packaging solutions of equipment and systems. - Develops aircraft integration design solutions for assigned structural products and components. - Creates mechanical designs and drawings related to
