About this role

Engineer III General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer as part of the Engineering and Projects team within the Energy Group. This position will be part of a team for the design, development, and fabrication of components and systems for Magnetic and Inertial Fusion devices. This role focuses on the mechanical design of components and systems. Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion. This role documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have inter-organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues. Provides direction to design or technical staff and may provide direction to less experienced professional staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Evaluate and interpret needs and problems to develop effective approaches to resolving engineering issues. - Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies. - Apply GD&T, perform tolerance stack‑up analyses to ensure form, fit, function and manufacturability of engineered systems. - Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems by utilizing standard engineering and
