Social Worker (Psychotherapist) Hampton, Virginia Summary This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC). The Mental Health Clinic Social Worker provides a full range of mental health clinical services to veterans enrolled in MHC. Duties Duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical Completes thorough psychosocial assessments as part of the consult process when the Veterans is initially referred to the Mental Health Clinic. Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans in the Mental Health Center and/or their families. Able to independently work with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems. Utilizes assessments in facilitating the Veteran's maximum use of treatment for attainment of the highest level of independence that is possible and practicable. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participates through collaboration with Veterans and family as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members in the development and implementation of a resident centered treatment plan. Provides Individual and Group Psychotherapy for those cases identified through assessment as potentially benefiting from such services. Uses medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
