About this role
Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Surgery & Endoscopy Kings, New York Summary This position maybe eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy & submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Duties The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Conduct nursing assessments for pre-operative/procedural patient Validate consent, History & Physical (H&P), and related documentation Initiate intravenous fluids and perform venipuncture Assist with peripheral nerve blocks Ensure completion and communication of all lab work and pre-procedural tests Confirm surgical sites are prepared and properly marked Administer medications as ordered Provide clear preoperative teaching to patients and families Review discharge instructions in both written and verbal formats Monitor post-operative patients' level of consciousness after anesthesia/sedation Observe and report side effects of post-anesthesia medications Maintain current knowledge of ASPAN standards, VHA Directives, and relevant SOPs Ensure comprehensive, timely, and accurate documentation in the EHR Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for individual nursing practice Delegate tasks appropriately to optimize patient care Rotate across all 3 VA-NYHHCS campuses as required Will cross cover the Endoscopy unit Perform additional duties as assigned VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential
