About this role

Physician (ICU - General Surgery) Phoenix, Arizona Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Duties Join a dedicated team within the Surgical Care Service at the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS). The Critical Care Surgeon routinely performs outpatient general surgery and inpatient critical care and general surgery patient care; determines diagnoses, and initiates treatments based on education, training and standards of care. Position duties include but are not limited to the following: Diagnose and treat medical and surgical disorders using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care. Responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, history & physicals, and admission of general and subspecialty critical care patients as needed. Clinical duties include but are not limited to Operating Room (experience in wide variety of standard general surgical procedures and operations including laparoscopy), in-patient rounds, Emergency Room and Outpatient Clinics. Will be able to perform a wide variety of open surgical procedures.
