Physician - DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF Charleston, South Carolina Summary This full-time position is based at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System. The position reports directly to the Chief of Staff (COS). The Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for the clinical operations at Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System. This position will work collaboratively with members of the Chief of Staff office, service line leaders, and clinical staff to maximize operational efficiencies. Duties This is an open continuous announcement. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. Applications will remain on file until September 30, 2026. Represents the Chief of Staff (COS) in all aspects of administrative leadership, including, but not limited to: Serves as a member of key health care system managerial bodies including serving as a member of the organized medical staff, attending its meetings, and helping to ensure adherence to its bylaws, rules and regulations. Supervises employees to accomplish the work of the organization. This involves assigning work, strategic planning, mentoring, educating, and performing personnel management functions - e.g., leave administration, labor management requirements, disciplinary actions, proficiencies, etc. Works as a member of the Senior Management Team, which is responsible for overall leadership, policy, planning, budget, operations, and performance of the organization.
