Nursing Assistant-Med/Surg & Float Pool Wichita, Kansas Summary The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Wichita, Kansas is currently recruiting Nursing Assistants for our Medical/Surgical and Patient Support (Float Pool) departments. Duties Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Nursing Assistants work in a variety of health care settings such as outpatient, inpatient, home, or community living care. The incumbent for this position is responsible for caring for patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Utilizing glucose monitoring machines to collect and document readings. Maintaining positive therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and/or significant others. Using observations skills for data collection, reporting, and recording patient/resident observations. Performing nursing care to meet patient needs such as hygiene, physical comfort, nutrition, elimination, activity, exercise, and rest. Engaging in group activities such as off-station trips, reality orientation, and other therapeutic groups. Applying principles of proper body mechanics while caring for patients. Reporting patient observations to the RN and/or other members of the treatment team. Organizing and obtaining routine supplies and equipment. Safeguarding patient's right to privacy and protecting information of a confidential nature. Monitoring patients according to required policies and procedures. Work Schedule: Med/Surg-Night Shift (7pm-7am); Float Pool-All Tours (7am-7:30pm; 7pm-7:30am) Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications
