Motor Vehicle Operator Leader West Palm Beach, Florida Summary This position is a Motor Vehicle Operator Leader assigned to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, Transportation Section of Facilities Management Service. They assign, coordinate, and review the work of drivers transporting patients, staff, and materials. The Work Leader provides technical guidance, ensures efficient fleet utilization, and supports transportation operations critical to patient care and facility services. Duties Motor Vehicle Operator Leader within Facilities Management Service at the VA West Palm Beach Medical Center. The position operates under the general supervision of the Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor WS 5703 and does not exercise full supervisory authority. Additional Duties Include but not limited to: Assigns daily work, distributes workload, establishes priorities, and ensures drivers understand schedules, routes, and procedures. Monitors attendance, adjusts assignments for staffing shortages, and ensures continuity of operations. Checks work in progress and upon completion for timeliness, safety, and compliance. Provides on-the-job guidance and resolves routine operational issues. Provides support in supporting transportation records and tracking systems. Tracks vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, recalls, and mileage data using electronic systems. Coordinates with Transportation Assistant and supervisors to ensure fleet readiness and compliance. Maintains records related to vehicle assignments, fuel usage, and maintenance tracking systems. Ensures proper documentation for vehicle accountability and supports fleet inventory management. Assists in planning and coordinating transportation services including patient transport, shuttle operations, and emergency transport needs. Supports dispatch functions by coordinating driver assignments and scheduling next-day routes. Ensures efficient routing and utilization of drivers
