Maintenance Mechanic Tampa, Florida Summary The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for general maintenance and repair requirements as established by the Maintenance Supervisor, Supervisory General Engineer, or Chief, Facilities Management Service, for the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Work is assigned on a long-term as well as on a day-to-day basis. Employee will exercise judgement in prioritizing assignments to subordinates unless otherwise directed. Duties Duties include, but are not limited to: Measuring, cutting and constructing using standard building materials. Independently pan and complete projects that involve constructing, altering, repairing and/or modifying framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Operate and use a wide variety of specialty woodworking machines and tools. Perform work to close tolerances, exact fit and structural soundness. Plan, measure and lay out carpentry materials using broad knowledge of wood materials and substitutes with general and precision woodworking techniques. Repair plumbing systems. Installing, modifying and repairing new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems. Steam system troubleshooting and repair including backflow prevention valves, steam control valves, radiators and coils. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic/PD02082A Physical Requirements: The employee works from ladders, scaffolding and hydraulic platforms. They often work in portions of the utility systems requiring attention that are cramped, dirty and hard-to-reach locations.
