Housekeeping Aid/Environmental Services Technician (Part-Time) Nashville, Tennessee Summary This Part-Time position is located within the Environmental Management Services Division of a VA Medical Center. This position is under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor or designee. This position performs both janitorial and custodial services e.g., textile distribution and inventory activity, sanitizing and disinfecting, waste removal, cleaning of blinds, washing windows, discharge cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing and extracting, polishing floors and applying floor finishes. Duties The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician major duties include but are not limited to: Performs the full range of cleaning tasks requiring use of powered cleaning equipment. Uses cleaning chemicals. Make beds, change linens, collect soiled linens, deliver clean linen and supplies. Remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store general waste, regulated medical waste, chemotherapeutic waste and radioactive waste Check and replenish consumable supplies in the course of cleaning and servicing rooms and areas within the Medical Center. Remove, transport, repackage, dispose and store sharps as a part of service rendered to clinics in patient rooms, and may replace filled sharps containers with empty containers. Work Schedule: Various times/days. Shifts will be assigned upon selection. Will work Saturday and Sunday and one other day. Position Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid/Environmental Services Technician (Part-Time)/PD99909S Physical Requirements: PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds.
