About this role

RIGGING WORK (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) Multiple Locations Summary You will serve as a RIGGING WORK (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY to include work sites of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Applicants will only be considered for positions within their own UIC. For example: If you are within UIC 4523A, you will only be considered for positions within 4523A. Duties You will be assisting journeyman Riggers in rigging up hoisting and pulling gear for lifting, moving, and positioning heavy loads. You will be assisting in fabricating, installing, and repairing standing and running rigging, wire and fiber rope items such as slings, towing bridles, nets, and other ship and boat rigging and handling of test weights. You will be operating an electric, gasoline, or diesel powered fork lift trucks which are capable of lifting loads weighing 10,000 pounds or more. You will be driving fork lift trucks over rough and sometimes muddy terrain through narrow aisles in outside storage areas.
