EMERGENCY RESPONSE DISPATCHER Naval Base, Norfolk, Virginia Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Interested applicants must follow the directions in the "How to Apply" section of this flyer to be considered. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Duties You will confirm the location and type of emergency (e.g., type of fire, medical emergency, vehicle accident) to dispatch manpower and vehicles required for the situation. You will evaluate emergency and administrative calls to determine type of response required (e.g., fire, police, and medical). You will use a multi-phone line communication system to transmit and receive routine and emergency calls. You will operate a central computerized phone system console (e.g., multi-line 911 systems, Reverse 911 system, other equivalent communication device) to interpret and relay emergency information. You will use an automated system (e.g., Computer Aided Dispatch [CAD]) to input emergency and non-emergency response data for archive and immediate reference. You will prioritize incoming calls or reports of an emergency to verify emergency resources are dispatched by severity of situation and manpower availability. You will instruct callers on what to do and what not to do before responding units arrive.
