Machine Tool Work Inspector Watervliet, New York Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & MRTFB in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned and operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813. Duties Performs final and in-process inspections on large caliber weapon components, assemblies, castings, and forgings utilizing a wide variety of standard measuring and testing equipment. Verifies dimensions using set-ups, a knowledge of shop math and dimensioning principles. Communicates orally and documents in writing (with operators, manufacturing supervision, and support organizations), any problems that impede the production of repetitive defect free work. Technical responsibilities of the inspector include accuracy of documentation, maintaining monthly International Organization of Standardization (ISO) reports. Records results of examinations and test on permanent inspection records identifiable to item inspected.
