About this role
MOBILE EQUIPMENT METAL MECHANIC Minot AFB, North Dakota Summary Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information. The primary purpose of this position is to recondition, replace, repair, assemble, install, modify sheet metal parts and paint vehicle bodies and equipment, fenders, panels, hoods and frames. The organizational location of the position is as described on page one of this standardized core personnel document. Duties - Repairs metal and composite bodies of vehicles such as light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, cargo and van-type bodies, cars, busses, fire trucks, ambulances and other special purpose vehicles and equipment. - Prepares various surfaces of interior and exterior vehicle sheet metal or composite structures by mechanically and chemically removing old paint and rust, filling cracks, sanding, and applying fillers and base coats. - Performs general upholstery work, replaces and/or repairs automotive glass, repairs automotive and equipment radiators. - Uses and maintains tools. Uses basic hand and power tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, and sanders. - Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
