The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional engineering/scientific work for targeting and effects assessment analysis involving structures, infrastructures, and their environmental systems and or mechanical devices/systems and their equipment. Duties DR-0810-01: Performs professional engineering/scientific work for targeting and effects assessment analysis involving structures, infrastructures, and their environmental systems; investigation and evaluation of the earth's physical, natural, and man-made features; and transportation, utilities, building and/or construction industries. Assignments are combined with training in order to establish qualitative and quantitative analytical skills/techniques used to resolve issues associated with a range of civil engineering activities. Develops knowledge and expertise in representative network/system characterizations and mathematical models using appropriate methods to fill information shortfalls/ensure optimal depiction of real world. With assistance as necessary, identifies critical elements/vulnerabilities of civil engineering networks and systems, prioritizes targets for engagement to meet specific objectives, and provides qualitative and/or quantitative estimations of effectiveness of recommended engagement options. Prepares timely, relevant, and technically accurate deliverables. Presents and defends project plans, objectives, and findings internally and externally with some oversight. Stays abreast of community/academic advancements. Uses critical thinking and creative problem solving to adapt existing methods and tools and/or develop innovative approaches to improve ability to meet requirements/enhance operational utility. Provides requirements, develops, and assesses the capability and performance of existing and/or improved analytic methods, models, techniques, and tools. DR-0830-01:
