ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY Multiple Locations Summary Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information. The primary purpose of this position is to operate engineering and construction equipment and perform functions as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials; and construct, maintain, and repair rigid and flexible pavements, roads, and parking lots. Duties 1. Operates one or more types of heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, or load materials such as sand, gravel, earth, snow, moving and covering refuse, and clearing brush, rocks, tree stumps, and other material. 2. Operates one or more types of gasoline or diesel-powered heavy trucks with air brakes, automatic or standard shift, heavy equipment, including snow removal equipment and vacuum type sweepers to clear streets, parking lots, ramps, sidewalks, and aprons of snow, ice, or foreign objects. 3. Maintains, repairs, and constructs flexible roads, pavements, parking areas, sidewalks, or similar surfaces of asphalt. 4. Maintains, repairs, and constructs rigid pavements or similar cement and concrete surfaces. 5. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. 6. Uses and maintains tools and equipment.
