About this role

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a clothing designer, performing design duties in support of a wide variety of developmental and sustainment program/projects. This position leads a design team of lower graded engineers/technicians from a variety of disciplines and technical staff on larger more complex projects. Duties Serves as the recognized technical specialist, and design authority for the military service on men and women's service and dress uniforms. Plans, and develops preparation of original and revised designs and specifications. Receives and analyzes requirements involving the design or improvement of uniform items. Develops and executes certification program. Incumbent is the recognized technical expert in the field of clothing designs for certification process and standards for production of military uniforms. Keeps abreast of military and civilian commercial developments in the field of fabrics, fabric construction and design, patterns and manufacturing process.
