As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. This position is also being announced to applicants eligible to apply through Merit Staffing procedures under 26-VAE-RD-12978087-ST. Duties If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for technical and administrative support of the District's Victim Witness Program. Typical work assignments will include: Responding to victim inquiries via phone, e-mail, letters and fax, providing initial screening of victim concerns, and determining program eligibility for victim-witness services. Providing information to victims on schedule changes, status of defendant's pleas, results of trial; opportunities to address the court, and post-sentencing notification. Orienting victims to the Crime Victim Compensation Program' and providing information on how to contact the program and how to submit an application. Coordinating with law enforcement agencies to assist victims with the return of their property being held as evidence, or to obtain copies of reports for securing services and assistance. Providing information on restitution to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and forwarding Victim Impact Statements to U.S. Probation. Inputting victim data into applicable database(s), and produces notification documents using the automated victim notification system. Maintains a calendar of active victim cases which includes keeping track of hearings, trial dates, and sentencing dates.
