You will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce Federal criminal and civil laws that protect life, liberty and the property of citizens. This position is located in Mobile, Alabama. Duties The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently recruiting for an AUSA position in the Civil Division. The Civil Division is responsible for defending all civil actions filed against the United States, its agencies, officers, and employees in the Southern District of Alabama. The defensive caseload includes tort litigation, employment litigation, immigration litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and the defense of civil rights lawsuits filed against federal officers and employees for alleged constitutional violations. The Civil Division is also responsible for investigating and prosecuting affirmative civil cases for damages due to fraud upon the federal government including healthcare fraud, immigration related employment fraud, and civil monetary penalties for violations of federal program regulations. The affirmative caseload includes fraud cases brought under statutes such as the False Claims Act, as well as federal regulatory enforcement actions, and civil forfeiture cases.
