MARINE INFORMATION SPECIALIST New Orleans, Louisiana Summary This vacancy is for a GS-1361-9, MARINE INFORMATION SPECIALIST located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, D8 WATERWAYS MANAGEMENT BRANCH -DPW in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana. Duties You will serve as a MARINE INFORMATION SPECIALIST and be responsible for assistance to the Chief, PATON Section, Waterways Management Branch in fulfilling the statutory requirements within the authority of the District Commander to ensure appropriate establishment, maintenance, inspection, discontinuance, change or transfer of ownership of Private Aids to Navigation (PATON). Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Research and interpret Federal Regulations (primarily 33 CFR Parts 66 and 67). Knowledge of U.S. Aids to Navigation system Understand the roles and responsibilities between the Army Corps of Engineers, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Coast Guard regarding private aids to navigation marking requirements Prescribe appropriate lateral and non-lateral marks based on application and local geography Use electronic charting products Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
