About this role

Emergency Management Specialist (Geospatial) Washington, District of Columbia Summary Joining the Mitigation Directorate within FEMA's Office of Resilience offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a team that builds and delivers creative solutions to empower communities to become more resilient and adaptable to intensifying hazards to reduce disaster suffering. Duties In this Emergency Management Specialist (Geospatial) position, you will be joining a team that invests in helping American communities become more resilient and mitigate against future disasters. Typical assignments include: Applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify and implement effective solutions. Producing maps and data products expressing the results of analytical processes using ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) products, Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Python, R, SQL, or other programming languages. Facilitating data coordination and collaboration for disaster recovery among Tribal, state, and local governments, the private sector, and voluntary, faith-based, and community organizations. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
