Accountant New London, Connecticut Summary This vacancy is for a GS-0510-12, Accountant, located in the Department of homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Museum Division, New London CT, in New London, Connecticut. Duties You will serve as a Senior Accountant and be responsible for the National Coast Guard Museum with responsibilities to the Deputy Director and Coast Guard Headquarters for accounting services.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Assisting in interpreting financial management policy promulgated by Coast Guard headquarters and providing guidance to staff elements to include that pertinent to NCGM financial management directives and procedures. Assisting program managers in developing their accounting data structure and in maintaining internal management controls for all NCGM financial management functions to include periodic reviews. Providing accounting advice, assistance, and management accounting information to financial managers on status, trends, statutory, and policy limitations, objective achievements. Certifying prior year funds availability for proposed obligation adjustments or fund withdrawals; analyzing all such adjustments to ensure propriety and legality. Supervising a small staff of civilian & military personnel, planning and coordinating what is to be accomplished by subordinate staff and developing performance plans, evaluating work performance and counsels staff as appropriate.
