About this role

Physician Multiple Locations Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ). As a Physician, GS-0602-15, you will serve as an authoritative senior clinical advisor and consultant regarding the development, evaluation, and implementation of a wide range of Medicare coverage policies and associated clinical and scientific issues. Duties Serve as a medical consultant to CMS leadership, providing clinical and scientific expertise to shape Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP program policies. Lead quality measurement and public reporting initiatives, using data analysis to identify care gaps and drive continuous improvement. Represent CMS before national health organizations, legislative bodies, and federal partners, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Deliver high-level briefings and presentations to Federal, state, and local officials and health care industry representatives on CMS priorities. Education Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements: Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (external link); Association of American Medical Colleges (external link); Liaison Committee on Medical Education (external link); Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
