Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary Health Policy Washington, District of Columbia Summary This position is in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, Office of Health Policy (HP). HP provides a cross-cutting perspective to inform leadership on health policy by conducting economic, and budget analyses; assisting in development and review of regulations, budgets, legislation, and surveys; and conducting and coordinating research, evaluation, and information dissemination on health policy. Duties ABOUT THE POSITION The Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation/Health Policy provides executive leadership, direction, and coordination of the Department's health care financing, access, cost, public health, and quality policy development and implementation. The incumbent acts on behalf of the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DASPE)/HP and the ASPE in meetings and other situations with senior officials of the Department, other Federal agencies, the Congress, and other public and private entities. The Associate Deputy's principal focus is on development and assessment of health care policy issues for health programs. In addition, he/she serves as an advisor to the DASPE/HP and the ASPE on health care financing, access, cost, public health, and quality issues including those concerning public and private services, legislation, research, and regulation. The Associate Deputy is responsible for developing and coordinating implementation of research and evaluation plans for the DASPE/HP and the ASPE for HHS health care programs in order to improve program effectiveness and efficiency.
