Nurse (Clinical/Psychiatric) Tacoma, Washington Summary About the Position: This position is located in the Psychiatric Unit at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Duties Perform a comprehensive mental health nursing assessment and history to plan, provide and direct nursing care across the continuum of care. Utilize appropriate interview skills to identify existing and potential problems and formulates a nursing plan of care. Develop and initiate an innovative teaching program for patients requiring special approaches. Administer many psychotropic and complex medications via the oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, respiratory, intravenous routes. Develop and present classes related to psychiatric/mental health nursing to enhance the knowledge base of peers and subordinates. Participate in group and milieu therapy as well as individual therapies. Coordinate patient enrollment in experiential classes that are conducted by various members of the interdisciplinary team.
