Legal Assistant (Office Automation) San Antonio, Texas Summary About the Position: This position serves the Office of General Counsel as a Legal Assistant (Office Automation) in the Defense Health Agency, in San Antonio, Texas. Duties Provide in-take services to receive, screen, and analyze issues and inquiries for appropriate legal action and review. Assist with the administration of the Military Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and/or Network Government Ethics Program in accordance with Department of War, Defense Health Agency and Medical Treatment Facility instructions. Assist in preparation and fact determination of all administrative and civil law actions. Responsible for maintaining a system of records for both hard copy files and electronic databases for all office actions. Analyze, distribute and prepare incoming correspondence for clarity and completeness so case files can be properly prepared for attorney's actions. Complete selected documents and reports ensuring proper content, legal format, legal citations and references, and spelling, punctuation and grammar. Compose standardized legal forms routinely needed for specific legal actions. Review standardized legal forms to ensure correct form and timeliness, and annotates files to reflect receipt and response due dates or other required action. Performs basic research, investigation, and court presentation of medical malpractice cases.
