About this role
Scientist II - R&D - SLC Utah Salt Lake City, UT, United States Overview Research and Development Scientist II - SLC Scientist II independently designs and optimizes molecular assays, contributes to research projects, and mentors research associates. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate molecular biology workflows with automated systems. Responsibility Perform the experimental design, execution, data collection and data analysis of molecular assays that utilize next generation sequencing (NGS) and other methodologies for analyzing DNA and RNA. Conduct experimental research to validate and improve existing methodologies and protocols. Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, presenting findings to internal teams. Collaborate with operations, bioinformatics, robotics, and software teams on project integration. Mentor and provide technical guidance to research associates. Ensure good documentation practices for assay development, validation, quality assurance, technical investigations and operational support of molecular diagnostic tests in a highly regulated clinical laboratory environment. Qualifications Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements: B.S. with 8+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science. M.S. with 6+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science. Ph.D. with 2+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science. Proficiency in molecular biology techniques that include DNA and RNA extraction, Next Generation Sequencing laboratory workflows, and informatics analysis. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Experience with lab automation preferred.
