Electrical Engineer – Power Systems Design CDM Smith is seeking a dynamic Electrical Engineer to join our team of forward‑thinking experts. In this role, you'll design high‑performance electrical systems that support infrastructure resilience, energy innovation, and technical excellence across industries. From modernizing power grids to advancing smart facilities, your work will help drive the future of sustainable, reliable electrical infrastructure. While this position is preferred to be based in Pittsburgh, PA, CDM Smith will also consider qualified candidates in other U.S. office locations. Key Responsibilities Design and develop electrical systems ranging from foundational to highly complex-including electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power infrastructure, and renewable energy solutions. Perform advanced studies and calculations for power distribution, lighting simulations and layouts, communications, fire alarm, and security systems. Assist in reviews and provide feedback to engineers for various projects based on client and industry standards. Develop white papers and technical documentation for CDM Smith's Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) program. Conduct field reviews to confirm alignment between design specifications and site conditions; update designs when necessary. Collaborate with sales staff on proposals and responses to client RFPs. Review proposals to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Engage with current and prospective clients to understand needs and help plan upcoming design solutions. Represent CDM Smith at industry conferences and events. Mentor junior engineers and support their technical growth. Provide guidance and, when required, oversee work by junior team members to ensure quality and consistency.
