The Safety Programs Engineer supports the development, maturation, and day-to-day operation of BETA's Safety Management System (SMS) and Continued Operational Safety (COS) programs. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer support teams, the Safety Programs Engineer leads the integration of safety risk management into day-to-day operations and product lifecycle activities. The Safety Programs Engineer also assists with regulatory engagement and compliance efforts, helping ensure the SMS and COS programs meet FAA requirements and industry best practices as the organization grows. Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity, a collaborative mindset, and a practical, continuous-improvement approach to building an effective and sustainable safety culture. How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation: Develop and maintain safety documentation (e.g. Safety Management System Manual, Continued Operational Safety Plan, Safety Policy), including defining new processes, piloting them within teams, gathering feedback, and iterating to improve effectiveness Define practical safety analysis approaches aligned with applicable standards and regulatory guidance (e.g., ARP4754, ARP4761, ASTM F3230, Small Airplane Risk Analysis (SARA) Handbook, AC 39-8 - Continued Airworthiness Assessments of Powerplant and Auxiliary Power Unit Installations of Transport Category Airplanes).
