About this role
RF & Control Systems Engineer Midland, Texas, United States AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking a specialized RF & Control Systems Engineer to design, develop, and validate the tracking algorithms and control systems for our satellite and ground station antennas. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with antenna vendors to define control interfaces and validate tracking performance. - Design and simulate antenna control loops and tracking algorithms using tools like MATLAB/Simulink. - Develop and test embedded software/firmware for Antenna Control Units (ACUs). - Support the integration and testing of the complete tracking system in the lab and in the field. Qualifications Education: Master's degree in electrical, mechatronics, or computer engineering. Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 plus years in control systems or embedded software development for RF applications. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). - Familiarity with satellite tracking techniques (e.g., monopulse, step-track).
