About this role

Software Development Manager - AWS Data Processing Serverless Capacity, Amazon Athena Control Plane East Palo Alto, California, USA Serverless Compute Platform team manages the serverless core compute infrastructure powering Athena and Glue services. This platform is responsible for lifecycle of underlying EC2 instance infrastructure and execution environment and operates at a massive scale. On daily basis, the platform manages millions of EC2 instances. The team is now building the next version of this platform that will be foundational for multiple services, and multiple workload types, all while maintaining strict SLAs. Amazon Athena and Glue are analytics services that makes it easy to get insights from Amazon S3 based data lakes and other federated sources using open standards like Apache Iceberg and other open table formats. These services operate at scale and are serverless, so there is no infrastructure to set up or manage as the service scales automatically for any arbitrary large datasets and complex query. Creating a simple, rich and performant experience for customers requires solving challenging engineering problems. We are looking for a Software Development Manager who can lead key initiatives in Serverless capacity team. We have big technical challenges ahead of us that will grow the service and we need a leader who is passionate, technical and wants to take on a core control plane charter.
