About this role

Software Development Engineer II, Rufus AI Seattle, Washington, USA We are reimagining Amazon Customer journeys with an interactive conversational experience that helps you find answers to anything on Amazon and perform actions on behalf of customers with personalized responses tailored to the customer's specific needs. You will be working on critical 2026 goals to scale the conversational chat bot experience to handle wide variety of actions that Amazon customers rely on. We are building foundational technical stacks that will enable teams within Amazon to onboard their customer experiences onto the chatbot. Key job responsibilities An SDE II on the Rufus Shopping Agent team works backward from the customer, applying the latest advances in AI agents and agentic AI to deliver delightful experiences. They develop deep expertise in both customer‑facing business metrics and operational metrics (such as latency and availability, partner onboarding friction, developer velocity), and they maintain a high standard for launching features that enhance response quality while improving those operational metrics. They stay current with innovations in the agent space, both inside and outside Amazon, and translate those insights into tangible value for our customers. With a solid grasp of the end‑to‑end development stack, AWS backend services, and front‑end technologies, they collaborate to deliver features from end to end.
