About this role
Software Development Engineer, Data Platform , Fauna New York, New York, USA We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to to build the foundational data systems that power our robotics and machine learning development. In this role, you will design and implement the infrastructure for collecting, storing, processing, and transforming the vast amounts of data generated by our robots-from sensor telemetry and video streams to operational logs and performance metrics. You will own the services, APIs, and distributed systems that ingest, store, process, and serve it reliably at scale. You will work across the stack and partner directly with applied scientists and robotics engineers, turning their evolving needs into durable platform capabilities. Key job responsibilities - Design, build, and operate scalable services and distributed systems for ingesting, storing, and serving large volumes of multimodal robotics data - Own components end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and on-call - Build well-designed APIs and tooling that let researchers and engineers discover, query, and process large datasets efficiently - Develop real-time and batch processing systems for preparing data for ML training - Partner with science and engineering teams to translate evolving requirements into reusable platform capabilities About the team Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life.
