In this role, the Principal Engineer (PE) will be responsible for delivering foundational software to grow both the open-source community and our business over the next decade. The PE is expected to draw from deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers, complete hands-on technical work, and provide leadership on complex technical issues. The PE will be responsible for delivering some of our most strategic technical projects, designing new software systems at the forefront of distributed database technology, and having a significant impact on both the Valkey OSS community and ElastiCache. The role empowers the PE to impact ElastiCache and the Valkey open-source community. The PE will design and direct technical solutions across our large-scale in-memory datastore infrastructure addressing customer demand and market competition by envisioning innovative in-memory caching solutions. Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of professional software development experience. 8+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++. 8+ years of contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems. Preferred Qualifications: Programming in Rust.
