About this role
Diesel Mechanic Sioux Falls, SD Sioux Area Metro is South Dakota's largest transportation provider. Our mission is to have a positive social and economic impact on the community by providing a safe and reliable transportation option for all who live, work, or play in Sioux Falls. As a Diesel Mechanic at SAM by Via, you will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on buses, automotive equipment, and shop equipment. What You'll Do: - Direct highly varied and complex operations related to vehicle and equipment service - Repair and/or replace any subsystem associated with heavy, medium, and/or light duty SAM coaches and automotive equipment - Work with other maintenance workers, drivers, and transportation supervisors - Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors Who You Are: - Possess knowledge of the design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of systems and subsystems of SAM coaches and related shop equipment - Able to work on their feet eight hours per day, lift 100 pounds, and carry parts, equipment, and supplies - Possess excellent manual dexterity - High school diploma or GED equivalent, including trade or vocational school. Additional training at manufacturer's schools, courses, or seminars is a plus. - Hold a valid SD driver's license - Able to obtain a CDL permit - Able to pass a pre-employment physical - Pass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding tickets - Able to apply in person at the Sioux Area Metro
