Geological Technician Logan Lake Employment Type: Workplace Type: About Highland Valley Copper Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada's largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation. Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences. Role Overview Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Geological Technician will support the Logging Geologists by preparing drill core, verifying core quality, completing geomechanical logging under supervision and collecting a range of physical properties data. In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate must have strong problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills and be a motivated self-starter who can remain organized and prioritize demands in a fast-paced team environment. The successful candidate will also support various team members by assisting in the core shack, learning about the porphyry systems and get exposure to geological modelling. Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures Support Logging Geologists by preparing drill core for processing, including layout, orientation, and quality checks Operate specialized technical equipment to scan drill core and collect physical properties
