About this role
Welder (Starship) Westminster, MD SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. WELDER (STARSHIP) RESPONSIBILITIES: - Fabricate, weld, and assemble various subassemblies for Starship - Operate and utilize advanced manufacturing equipment such as robots, spot welders, hand-held laser welders, automated welders, seam welders, and press brakes - Perform routine maintenance procedures for up-keep on tooling and equipment as required - Use precision calibrated tools - torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers - Read and interpret technical drawings, and follow detailed work instructions - Perform blending, filing, and fit-up of sheet metal piece parts - Load, lift and unload parts with use of cranes, forklifts, and custom tools - Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or equivalency certificate - 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, material handling, and/or installation; OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, and/or electronics - 1+ years of experience with TIG welding in a manufacturing environment or certificate of completion for TIG welding from an accredited program within the last 2 years PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - 5+ years of experience in welding with one or more of the following materials: stainless steel,
