About this role
Orbital Tube Welder (Fluid Systems) Hawthorne, CA SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. ORBITAL TUBE WELDER (FLUID SYSTEMS) RESPONSIBILITIES: - Follow established procedures to setup and operate the orbital welding system - Work from blueprints and approved drawings - Cut and prepare all tubing and fittings used in the welding operation - Perform setup of the welding system - Assemble and calibrate liquid controllers and systems as required - Inspect all completed assemblies using the borescope inspection system - Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts for the welding system - Maintain a clean work area - Maintain a file of all work records BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or equivalency certificate - 1+ year of welding, machining or manufacturing experience OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, welding, and/or electronics PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Certification from a formal orbital weld training program - 3+ years of orbital welding experience - Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license - TIG welding and clean room experience - Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be able to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed - Must be able to work any of the following shifts: - Monday to Friday: 4:00 AM
