ELECTRICIAN, MEDIUM VOLTAGE (STARSHIP) As a Medium Voltage Electrician, you will support the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment in substations and power grid facilities to ensure safe, reliable power delivery. This role focuses on basic tasks under direct supervision, working with energized equipment up to 260 volts initially, progressing to higher voltages (above 750 volts) after training. You will assist higher-classified personnel in high- and medium-voltage environments, following strict safety standards. This position combines core responsibilities from substation technician and station electrician roles, emphasizing hands-on learning and team collaboration. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist in installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing substation equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, relays, buswork, control systems, and batteries. - Perform basic routine maintenance on high- and medium-voltage electrical systems, such as cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspections (e.g., checking oil levels, lights, heaters, and connections). - Conduct entry-level electrical testing, including using voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation meggers, and assisting with insulation resistance, relay, transformer, and circuit breaker tests. - Read and interpret basic electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work orders with guidance. - Troubleshoot simple electrical, mechanical, and control system issues under supervision. - Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding, clearance
