About this role
CNC Machinist Starbase, TX SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. CNC MACHINIST Join the Starbase team advancing SpaceX's mission to make humanity multiplanetary. Located at our South Texas site, this role supports tight-tolerance machining for critical infrastructure. The team develops high-performance flight and launch hardware, including systems for rapid and reliable rocket operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Program, set, and operate multi-axis (up to 5-axis) computer numerical control (CNC) mills and lathes - Inspect parts using tools to verify dimensions - Execute machining operations from blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions on complex, tight-tolerance across various materials - Meet productivity expectations - Communicate production issues to shop leadership - Provide continuous feedback for process improvements - Cross-train in other lab operations (e.g., fixture build, testing support) as needed BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or equivalency certificate - 3+ years of experience in setup, operation, and/or programming of CNC mills and lathes PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Proficiency in basic G-Code, including adjustments to feeds/speeds - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), notes, and tolerances - Experience using hand inspection tools to verify machined features - Familiarity with multiple CNC controls (e.g., Haas, Fanuc, Siemens) and programming software (e.g., Mastercam or similar) - Experience machining various
