Software Engineer - Special Programs Austin, TX, Austin, Texas, United States Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms. Job Overview We are seeking a Software Engineer responsible for designing, writing, and deploying software on a variety of complex systems, including autonomous platforms and edge devices. You will work on a diverse range of technical challenges, from autonomy and navigation to systems integration and controls. You will collaborate with a small group of like-minded developers to solve robust problems with limited resources and time. You will explore the frontier of maritime technology. Responsibilities - Design and develop software for autonomous systems and edge devices, including navigation, perception, control, and networking - Design APIs and system interfaces for integrating onboard hardware, sensors, and cloud services - Collaborate with robotics, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver functional prototypes quickly - Support and participate in regular field testing and/or Government demonstrations Qualifications - Experience building complex systems, including autonomous platforms and edge devices - Understanding of autonomous systems, path planning, sensor fusion, or controls - Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and/or Rust - Experience with robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS/ROS2) or real-time embedded systems - Experience with embedded Linux systems and embedded software development - Experience with low-level serial protocols (e.g., RS-232, CAN) - Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and embedded debugging - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment - Strong communication
