Job Overview - Ensure proper operation of electrical systems by using tools, gauges, meters, and testing equipment - Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and sketches to understand the specifications of a project - Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and blueprints - Strong electrical aptitude and attention to detail - Figure material take-offs on drawings for required cut lengths - Plan electrical system layout, installation, or repair per specifications - Possesses a thorough understanding of AC or DC circuit operation and theory - Read manufacturer documentation to determine how to install and integrate engine electrical, control, and communication systems - Understands the function and install of marine electronics such as AIS, Radar, transponders, and transducers - Can QC electrical schematics and effectively communicate issues to supervisor - Basic understanding of proper wire and circuit protection sizing. - Will be required to work aloft (on scaffold or on manlifts) and in confined spaces. - On site training is provided. Job Proficiency - Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment on vessels - Troubleshoot electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters - Test circuits for voltage, continuity, and amp draw - Properly connects isolation transformers - Terminate cable connections. - Understands network communication - Pull/install wires and cables - Connect Single Phase and Three Phase
