About this role

Designer II Chesapeake, VA, United States At Oceaneering, we're seeking a talented Designer II to join our innovative team. In this role, you'll be responsible for generating layout, assembly, and detail drawings for a variety of projects, primarily focused on developing complex power and control systems for underwater electromechanical systems. Your work will support our customers in the US Navy, other US Government Department of Defense agencies, and ADTECH projects. This position is based in Chesapeake, VA, and may require occasional domestic travel. Get ready to make a meaningful impact and contribute to our mission of pushing the boundaries of technology. Craft mechanical parts & assemblies based on high-level concepts for moderately complex equipment or mechanisms using SolidWorks. Independently develop original designs and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure efficient manufacturing, assembly, and integration. Validate the technical accuracy and completeness of all modelling and drafting. Prepare engineering drawings, layout, and detailed design of mechanical systems using SolidWorks or SolidWorks Electrical. Interface with customers via email, phone, or presentations to discuss project requirements and updates. Create illustrations for technical mechanical documentation and design intents. Support engineering analysis/simulation software by preparing models for export, merging parts, and applying load vectors under the guidance of senior engineers. Perform ship checks and site visits as needed. Work overtime hours as required to meet project deadlines. Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all aspects of the role.
