Manufacturing Engineer- Composites Dayton, OH, US Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate manufacturing engineer to join our composites manufacturing team with a focus on composites manufacturing, tooling, and scaling products from prototype to mass production. This role will support the development and scaling of composite aircraft structures and composite propeller systems from prototypes through high-rate production. This individual must be highly organized and self-driven, with a deep understanding of manufacturability and quality control. This position is exciting and rewarding, as engineers will see their ideas grow from concept to creation at Joby Aviation's fast pace. Responsibilities Develop and optimize composite manufacturing processes, including layup, trimming, secondary bonding, curing, resin transfer molding (RTM), assembly, and inspection. Support the development and scale-up of composite propeller manufacturing processes, including tooling, bonded assemblies, and finishing operations. Support the development of prepreg structures from autoclave and out-of-autoclave processes. Work with our technical team to support manufacturing and integration activities. Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation for composite production. Design tooling, fixtures and equipment to scale up manufacturing as required. Required B.S. in engineering OR 6+ years in a comparable role OR substantial hands-on composite manufacturing engineering experience. 2+ years of relevant work experienc
