About this role

On-Call Wildlife Biologist: California North Coast Redding, CA (CA55) What You Will Do Perform environmental compliance monitoring at construction sites (including preconstruction clearance surveys and environmental awareness training), coordinate with construction crews, and be responsive to changing schedules. Much of this will be NIGHT WORK. Field surveys for special-status species, nesting birds, natural communities, and habitats. Field surveys may include walking transects, walking and mapping habitat boundaries, trapping or collecting specimens, identifying animals by sight and sound. Work may be alone or in teams. Evaluate project plans in coordination with the task lead for determining potential impacts on special-status species and other biological resources. Prepare daily field notes summarizing field survey results, monitoring responsibilities, and compliance with environmental permits. Use technology to map resources and document conditions. What You Will Need Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, or other related field of study. 1+ year experience with biological monitoring, construction monitoring, or field surveys for special-status species and natural communities and habitats in Northern California. Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check. What We'd Like You to Have Experience conducting surveys for North Coast herpetofauna, birds, mammals, and natural communities. Understanding of wetland resources and indicators. Nesting bird/raptor survey experience. Experience interfacing with and monitoring construction crews and overseeing environmental compliance. Interpretation of regulatory documents and documenting project compliance. Proficiency with data entry and formatting. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
