About this role

Cell Material Engineer Mountain View, CA, USA The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first-party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $159000 - $231000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits Learn more about benefits at Google . Identify, evaluate, and prototype new cell chemistries and cells in lab/pilot environments to maximize energy density, cycle life, and safety. Drive Design of Experiments (DOEs) to optimize cell design, evaluate novel materials (anodes, cathodes, electrolytes, separators), and refine process parameters. Partner with advanced material suppliers and external Research & Development (R&D) partners to co-develop, integrate, and source components into test vehicles. Define and execute qualification matrices to evaluate advanced components, processes, and cell designs, and conduct data-driven performance analysis. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering discipline , or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience. 4 years of experience in developing and qualifying Li-ion cells with external partners on advanced materials, components, processes and cell designs. Experience using Statistical Process Control tools (such as Minitab or JMP) and data tools (Python, SQL, Matlab, etc).
