About this role
Experienced Systems Engineer, Fluids Groton, CT, US Overview D471 Reactor Plant Planning Yard (RPPY) Reactor Plant Fluids Engineering supports mission readiness of LOS ANGELES, OHIO, SEAWOLF, and VIRGINIA Class commissioned submarines by providing engineering technical support for modernization and maintenance of the reactor plant. RPPY engineers also provide engineering support for Naval Nuclear Power Training Units, which include the Moored Training Ships and the S8G Prototype. This position requires the ability to resolve a wide variety of technical challenges, directly supporting the commissioned fleet and trainers. Technical expertise and knowledge of fluids engineering, submarine arrangements, military and federal specifications, welding, fasteners, material properties, and project management are all beneficial to the position. This position requires resolution of a wide variety of technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. Technical expertise and knowledge of propulsion plant fluid systems, Military and Federal specifications, welding, fasteners, materials, mechanical equipment, and general methods of manufacturing will be developed by frequently using these skills in performing technical evaluations.
