About this role
Engineer IV General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity located in Poway, CA for an experienced Project Engineer within our MQ-9A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) engineering team, providing systems engineering and technical management of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Become a prime point of contact between the company and the customer for all technical matters. - Develop an in-depth technical understanding of the entire aircraft and ground control system, which includes flight software, fuel, electrical and avionics systems, as well as datalink systems for command and control. - Develop detailed system requirements that will be the foundation for new or improved UAS capabilities. - Develop program plans, estimates, and schedules. - Lead all necessary engineering design reviews, e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR. - Provide chief technical directions to all other engineering groups within GA-ASI, ensuring company alignment of system requirements, design, and deliverables to meet customer requirements. - Requires a very hands-on approach to engineering system design, test, verification & validation utilizing an UAS-representative integration lab. - Lead troubleshooting efforts with on-site personnel to resolve technical issues in the field. - Will require travel to field sites to provide on-site engineering expertise as required.
